Lightning Round Rules

This is a short-term, low-stakes lightning round of the MDZS/CQL Rarepairs Exchange. You will have one week to create your work.

  • Matching is based on pairings. Assignments are hand-matched and will be sent via email. There is no nomination period.

Signups will be done via google forms. You will need to include your AO3 name and a valid email address in your signup. If the mod needs to contact you, they will do so through email.

  • You will receive either a story of at least 300 words or a piece of art that is at least a sketch on unlined paper. Preferences for fic or art will not be included in the matching process.

  • You must request 3-5 pairings that have less than 300 complete works in English on AO3 as of signups closing. Threesomes and poly are permitted. Gen (&) pairings are also permitted. If you want some inspiration, last round's tagset is available here. (Note: some pairings from the tagset may no longer be eligible.)

Pairings that do not meet the rarity requirements will be removed from your signup. If you have less than 3 eligible pairings, you will be emailed by the mod and given a 24-hour period to add pairings. If you do not respond, your signup will be removed.

  • You may include prompts in your signup, but they are considered optional details and are not required. If you have a strong preference for a particular version of canon, please note it in your general likes. The mod will try to match for canon preference as much as possible but cannot guarantee an exact match.

Do Not Wants are required. Please list anything that would ruin a work for you in your signup. You do not need to explain why. You may not DNW "art" or "fic."

  • You must offer at least 5 pairings to create for and may offer as many as you like. You may list Little Black Dress characters as well as pairings. LBD characters are characters you are willing to write with ANY other character(s).

If you have a strong preference for a particular version of canon, please note it in your offers. The mod will try to match for canon preference as much as possible but cannot guarantee an exact match.

  • You must write a complete story of at least 300 words or create art that is at least a sketch on unlined paper (or digital equivalent) based on one of the pairings your recipient has requested. There is no upper word limit or maximum art pieces allowed. You are not required to create only for the pairing you matched on and may choose to create for a pairing your recipient requested but you did not offer.

  • You are required to adhere to your recipient's Do Not Wants. If you feel you have been given an assignment with an unreasonable DNW, please contact the moderator.

Optional details are optional. You are only required to create for one of the pairings your recipient has requested. You are not obligated to adhere to their prompts or general likes.

  • There is no anonymous period for this exchange. Works will go live with creator names attached once all works are received and the deadline has passed. There is no guarantee of a grace period after the deadline, so do not upload an incomplete work.

  • If you default on your assignment or post an incomplete work at the deadline, you will be banned from the next MDZS/CQL Rarepairs event.

sorry if silly question

I'm trying to minimize the amount of cut/pasting i need to do and that y'all need to read

if i'm willing to write, say, any permutation of junior ot4, then i should list them out right?
= 6 pairings , 4 trios , 1 foursome, not too bad

what if i'm willing to write any permutation of 15 characters?
= 105 pairs , 455 trios, 1365 foursomes....

I mean, i can probably do it with software!! i just don't want you to have to scroll through like, two thousand lines
